Tolkien, for in the scope of its imaginative achievement and the totality of its vision of not one but two imaginary worlds, the Space Trilogy is rivaled in this century only by Tolkien's trilogy The Lord of the Rings.

Lewis created perhaps the most memorable character of his career, the brilliant, clear-eyed, and fiercely brave philologist Dr. Lewis's Space Trilogy, of which Perelandra is the second volume, stands alongside such works as Albert Camus's The Plague and George Orwell's 1984 as a timely parable that has become timeless, beloved by succeeding generations as much for the sheer wonder of its storytelling as for the significance of the moral concerns. Written during the dark hours immediately before and during the Second World War, C. Lewis George Orwell Mary Pope Osborne LeUyen Pham Dav Pilkey Roger Priddy Rick Riordan J.

This is an album both tumultuous and soothing. With their organic quirks and unpredictabilities, their characteristics serves the novel´s jubilant, lavish themes of growth and creation very well.Īt the same time there are more sinister themes on this album, since "Perelandra" presents one of the author´s most devilish, tragic characters, as well as a very literal struggle with outer and inner evil. That´s both intentional and accidental, since the core sound of this album is pre-dominantly built on improvisations on the Ciat-Lonbarde modular wooden synths.

The "Perelandra" music is warmer, fussier and more humid than the stony, cold and somewhat retro sci-fi music available on the predecessor. The music is connected to themes and narrative in the second novel, Perelandra, which was originally published in 1943. "Perelandra" is the second full-length installment in the series of three imaginary soundtracks loosely based on C S Lewis' Space Trilogy, written in the 1930s and 40s.
